Test Rooms and Laboratories
They conduct tests of materials, forgings and pressings, weld quality evaluation and basic metallographic tests related to the product heat treatment.
The test rooms and laboratories have modern testing equipment and qualified personnel. The results of the tests performed are accepted by all of our current customers including the inspection and certification bodies of the leading European railways, such as Deutsche Bahn AG, České dráhy, SNCF, SNCB, and others.
All testing equipment is calibrated and verified by ČMI (the Czech Metrology Institute) once a year.
The products are tested in line with the applicable technical standards, product engineering specification and UIC regulations.
Basic Tests Performed by the MSV Test Laboratories:
Mechanical Test Laboratory:
- tensile test,
- bending test,
- impact bending test at normal temperature and reduced temperature,
- Vickers, Brinell and Rockwell hardness tests,
- railcar draw hook and draw bar test,
- railcar screw coupling tests,
- mechanical tests of welds.
Metallographic Test Laboratory:
- ferritic, austenitic grain size determination,
- micro-structure evaluation,
- determination of content of non-ferrous inclusions in steel,
- decarburized layer depth determination,
- heat- and chemical and heat-treated layer depth determination,
- Vickers micro-hardness test,
- macroscopic test by sulphide imprints,
- macroscopic test by deep etching,
- weld defect evaluation.
